Battlefield 6 is now on Xbox Game Pass — and it arrived on the biggest possible day. The shooter joined Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on October 13 via EA Play, the exact same day Season 5 launched, kicking off the game's second year. And Battlefield Studios didn't stop there: a Game of the Year Edition was announced alongside it.

It's a landmark addition. Battlefield 6 was 2025's best-selling game overall in the US, and bringing it to the subscription service a year after launch is a clear play to reignite the player base. For Game Pass subscribers, it's arguably the biggest shooter addition of the year.

Battlefield 6 on Game Pass: Which Plans Get It

Battlefield 6 is available through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, via the EA Play membership bundled into those tiers. It's playable on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Season 5 opens with two very different battlefields. The first is a destructible Las Vegas map built around casinos, rooftops, and city streets — vertical, dense, and built for chaos. The second is an Area 51-inspired military complex that mixes open desert combat with underground tunnels, giving vehicle players and infantry specialists each room to breathe.

Beyond the maps, Season 5 adds new weapons and vehicles, Platoons, multiplayer leaderboards, Rapid Royale, and Ranked Battle Royale throughout the season. And in a move fans have requested since launch, there's finally a proper server browser — no more relying purely on matchmaking to find the experience you want.

One warning for completionists: Season 5 removes the Gauntlet mode, which may discontinue some achievements. If you were chasing a full completion, that window may have closed — though the Mythic achievement is reportedly still unlockable.

Alongside the Game Pass launch, Battlefield Studios announced a Game of the Year Edition. Its headline feature is the Ultimate Shortcut Kit, which instantly unlocks everything for all four classes, plus one season of Battlefield Pro and other digital perks. The Shortcut Kit is also available as a standalone $30 purchase — a microtransaction aimed squarely at players who want the full arsenal without the grind.

It's a notable strategy: put the base game in front of millions of subscribers, then sell the shortcut to the time-poor among them. Given the game's strong-but-cooling player numbers, widening the funnel while monetizing the committed makes commercial sense.

For Xbox, landing Battlefield 6 is a statement signing for Game Pass.
