Petit Planet is a cozy galactic life simulation game from HoYoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. HoYoverse announced on November 1, 2026 that Petit Planet will come to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, making it the studio's first game on a Nintendo platform, according to CBR's coverage of the announcement.

Key Takeaways

• HoYoverse announced on November 1, 2026 that Petit Planet will come to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, during the game's Pre-Launch Special Program livestream.
• Petit Planet launches first on December 4, 2026 for PC, iOS and Android, with the Nintendo

Switch 2 version following sometime in 2027.
• HoYoverse has given no month, price or Switch 2-specific features for the Petit Planet console version yet.
• Petit Planet is described as HoYoverse's first game on a Nintendo platform, and outlets compare its cozy life sim style to Animal Crossing.

When does Petit Planet come to Switch 2?

Petit Planet comes to Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2027, HoYoverse confirmed on November 1, 2026. The announcement came during the Petit Planet Pre-Launch Special Program livestream, where a brief trailer at the end of the presentation confirmed that a Switch 2 version is in development. The trailer showed gameplay running in both docked and handheld modes, according to The Express Tribune's report.

The key detail is what HoYoverse did not say. The studio gave a year, not a month or season, and no price, no footage beyond the brief trailer, and no mention of Switch 2-specific features or control schemes. Pocket Tactics reports that the studio said its team is hard at work on the port and will share gameplay footage and more details as 2026 turns into 2027. Until then, 2027 is the only date players can plan around.

When does Petit Planet launch on PC and mobile?

Petit Planet launches on December 4, 2026 for PC, iOS and Android, ahead of the Switch 2 version. That staggered rollout means phones and PC get the game first, and the Nintendo console follows later. HoYoverse announced Petit Planet on September 25, 2025, then ran three rounds of closed testing before setting the December 4, 2026 launch date.

The gap between the December 4, 2026 launch and the 2027 Switch 2 version also matters for players deciding where to play. Progress transfer between mobile, PC and Switch 2 has not been mentioned, so players who start on December 4 should not assume their planet carries over to Switch 2. That question is one of the first things HoYoverse will need to answer when it shares more port details.

Why does a Switch 2 version of Petit Planet matter?

A Switch 2 version of Petit Planet matters because it puts HoYoverse on a Nintendo console for the first time, in a genre Nintendo itself dominates. Every outlet covering the announcement reached for the same comparison: Animal Crossing. A cozy life sim on Switch 2 invites direct comparison with Nintendo's own series, and HoYoverse's galactic setting, planet-hopping and space theme give Petit Planet a different flavour from a village sim.

The business logic is straightforward. Switch 2 is the natural home for cozy games, with a large handheld audience, and HoYoverse's free-to-play, live-service experience translates well to a portable console. The Switch 2 November 2026 games lineup shows how crowded the console's calendar already is, and a 2027 cozy release gives Petit Planet room to breathe after the holiday rush. The Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 edition and Minecraft Switch 2 edition show the same pattern: established games finding a second audience on Nintendo's new hardware.

Is there a Petit Planet Switch 2 giveaway?

Yes, HoYoverse ran a giveaway tied to the announcement, according to My Nintendo News and Pocket Tactics coverage. Three winners each receive a Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller bundle, and ten winners each receive a US$50 gift card, with entries closing on November 15, 2026, according to Pocket Tactics. The giveaway was attached to the official announcement post, so players interested in entering should check HoYoverse's official Petit Planet channels before the November 15, 2026 deadline.

Giveaway details can change, so the official post is the source to trust over roundups. The same caution applies to the port itself: until HoYoverse shares a month, a price and footage, the Switch 2 version is confirmed but undated, and that is the accurate way to describe it.
